| Motivation und Beweggründe für die Themenwahl | The Strom-Boje® is a swimming small hydroelectric power plant. In comparison to all other types of power plants only kinetic energy of free floating streams or sea current is used. The Strom-Boje® is said not to influence the nature of water, and no structural measurements such as concrete dams, sluices or fish ascent assistances are needed. Hence, a low ecological footprint at reduced construction and maintenance costs has been attributed to the Strom-Boje®. Since December 2006 the first prototype is being tested in the river Danube in Weißenkirchen/Austria. Improvements have been evolved continuously since then. Several research projects supported by Lower Austria, Upper Austria, the European Union and the FFG contributed to optimize power performance, construction and production of the Strom-Boje®. |
